Eight municipalities from the Radom region and Grójec County will receive a total of over PLN 300,000 in co-financing for the purchase of equipment for 20 Volunteer Fire Brigades (OSP). The funds come from the “Mazowsze for Fire Services” programme and will be allocated to the municipalities of Pniewy, Wieniawa, Gielniów, Potworów, Przysucha, Kowala, Iłża, and Tczów. The increase in the financial allocation took place after the latest session of the Masovian Voivodeship Sejmik, allowing municipalities that were previously on reserve lists to also receive support.

Increase in the programme value

According to Deputy Marshal Rafał Rajkowski, the decision to increase the funds resulted in all municipalities that submitted applications receiving grants. As a result, the total value of support under the entire “Mazowsze for Fire Services” programme will increase to over PLN 24 million. The co-financing is of an investment nature and is specifically intended for the purchase of equipment and gear for firefighters.

Scope of support and the scale of the issue

The programme implemented by the Masovian Voivodeship self-government covers a wide range of activities, including the purchase of fire-fighting rescue vehicles, fire service equipment, protective clothing, as well as repairs and modernisations of fire stations. There are approximately 2,000 OSP units operating in the Masovian region, with over 75,000 volunteer firefighters (both men and women) serving in them. Some of these units are integrated into the National Fire and Rescue System (KSRG), which underscores the importance of constantly modernising their equipment. As Masovian Voivodeship Councillor Magdalena Nowacka points out, every additional piece of equipment, from a uniform to new gear, represents an investment in the shared safety of the region's residents.
