Officers from the Criminal Division in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki arrested a 43-year-old man from Sochaczew County who was responsible for breaking into a residential building. The incident took place on October 30 in the village of Kosewko, located in the Pomiechówek municipality. As a result of the crime, the victims lost jewelry with a total value of 13,000 PLN.
According to investigators, the perpetrator took advantage of the owners' absence to gain entry. The break-in was carried out by forcing an openable window. After committing the theft, the man left the building with the hidden loot.
The response from the law enforcement authorities was immediate. Police officers initiated intensive operational activities aimed at identifying and apprehending the perpetrator. The effectiveness of these operations was demonstrated by the fact that the suspect was arrested in November, specifically on November 5 – six days after the break-in. During further proceedings, the officers managed to recover some of the stolen items.
The detained man was charged with theft with breaking and entering. It turned out that the perpetrator acted in the conditions of recidivism, meaning he committed a crime after a previous conviction. Consequently, his legal situation is more severe than that of a first-time offender. The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki applied a preventive measure in the form of police supervision to the suspect.
For the presented offense, committed under the conditions of recidivism, the man faces a penalty of deprivation of liberty of up to 15 years. The proceedings in this matter are being conducted by the Pomiechówek Police Station, under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki.
