Warsaw's Kino Luna, located at 28 Marszałkowska Street, has prepared an extensive film programme for audiences for the upcoming autumn. From October to December 2026, the venue's screens will host screenings for four major events in the cinematography industry. The scheduled timetable covers both large international festivals and specialized thematic cycles.
Opening the season: 42nd Warsaw International Film Festival
The autumn festival season will be inaugurated by the 42nd edition of the Warsaw International Film Festival (WMFF), which will take place from 9 to 18 October 2026. During the ten days of the festival, 190 films from various parts of the world will be presented, including auteur cinema, debut films, and premieres of worldwide, international, and regional scope.
At Kino Luna, screenings will take place on weekdays at 17:00, while the programme will start earlier on weekends, at 14:00. The organisers emphasise the importance of event accessibility, providing, among other things, assistance for people with disabilities and audio description during selected screenings. A key logistical aspect is the issue of tickets: Kino Luna does not sell tickets for WMFF screenings at the box office. Tickets can only be purchased online, via the festival's website.
Jewish-themed cinema: 24th “DAVID'S CAMERA” Festival
In November, Kino Luna will co-organise the 24th Warsaw Jewish Film Festival “DAVID'S CAMERA”. The event, organised continuously since 2003, is recognised as one of the oldest and largest festivals of its kind in Poland. This year's edition will take place from 2 to 8 November 2026, with part of the programme available online until 30 November.
The festival programme extends beyond narrowly defined Israeli or historical cinema. It includes the latest international productions previously presented at prestigious film events, as well as competitive sections for feature and short fiction and documentary films. The themes addressed in the presented works include, among others, culture, history, the Holocaust, traditions, and the identity of contemporary Jews. The organisers point to the festival as a space for dialogue and education. A particular accent of this year's edition will be music, perceived not only as a sound accompaniment but also as a carrier of memory and history. The cinema will host screenings and meetings with the creators of the films.
Literature in cinema: 3rd FILMATURA.CONRAD Festival
At the end of November, from 20 to 29 November 2026, Kino Luna will be the exclusive space for the 3rd FILMATURA.CONRAD Literary Film Festival. The event is entirely devoted to the work of Joseph Conrad. The third edition of the festival focuses on the writer's influence on world cinema and the relevance of themes present in his literature, such as moral ambiguity, the crisis of modernity, responsibility, and the consequences of imperialism.
The FILMATURA.CONRAD programme includes much more than just adaptations of Conrad's prose. Audiences will see classic and contemporary screen adaptations, fiction and documentary series, television theatre productions, documentaries, and animations inspired by the writer's works. Screenings will be accompanied by meetings with guests, discussion panels, and workshops aimed at youth.
Polish documentary cinema: DOC HOT SELECTION 2026
The autumn programme at Kino Luna will be complemented by the DOC HOT SELECTION 2026 cycle, organised by the Władysław Ślesicki Film Foundation. The cycle runs from October to December 2026 and presents six Polish documentary films. The selected productions are works that began their distribution path within the DOC LAB POLAND programme and were subsequently presented at significant festivals in Poland and abroad.
The programme covers a variety of stories – from tales of growing up, family, and love, to documentaries addressing themes of war, social conflicts, and the boundaries of community. All screenings within this cycle are free of charge. Tickets are issued at the Kino Luna box office on the day of the screening. Meetings with the film creators are planned after each screening.
The autumn event at Kino Luna brings together four diverse initiatives, allowing the audience to look at cinema from many perspectives – from the latest global trends, through historical and cultural cinema, to reflections on literature and Polish documentary cinema.
