On Saturday, October 10, Warsaw residents will have the chance to peek behind the scenes of one of the capital's largest transport investments. Metro Warszawskie is opening the gates to the construction site of the Chrzanów station, which is part of the second section of the M2 line. The event continues the previous walk at the Lazurowa station, which attracted numerous participants.
Access to the Construction Site
The visit will start at 11:00, and entries will be accepted until 15:00. Organizers note that if attendance is high, the entry queue may be closed earlier to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow. The starting point is located from the side of Rayskiego Street, near the address of 5 Rayskiego. During the walk, guests will see, among other things, the finished station interiors and descend to the platform.
No prior registration is required for the visit, but each person must read and sign the regulations on-site. Youth aged up to 18 will need to present a valid student ID and a written consent form from a parent or legal guardian.
Safety and Requirements
Given the specific nature of the construction site, strict guidelines regarding attire apply. Participants must wear long trousers; skirts, dresses, and shorts are prohibited. Footwear must have a flat, hard sole and a closed toe. Soft-soled sports shoes, high heels, or open-toed footwear are not allowed. During the visit, each participant will receive a helmet and a reflective vest, which are mandatory to wear. Due to technical conditions, the area is not adapted for people with limited mobility.
Status of Works in Bemowo
The Chrzanów station is one of three stations being built on the final, Bemowo section of the second metro line. Alongside it, the C3 Lazurowa and C1 Karolin stations are under construction. Behind the Karolin station, underground tracks leading to the new Mory technical and parking station are also being built, which will enable comprehensive servicing of the trains. All works are expected to be completed by 2026.
This project, which includes infrastructure construction and rolling stock purchase, is partially funded by European Union funds. The total value of the project exceeds 3 billion zlotys, of which the Cohesion Fund allocated 1.125 billion zlotys in co-financing under the program for the years 2021-2027.
