On October 15, 2026, Speaker of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty participated in the Baltic Economic Congress 2026, held in Szczecin. In his inaugural address, the politician emphasized the importance of security in the context of the current geopolitical situation, calling the event key for Poland and the entire region. The Congress served as a space for exchanging experiences between representatives of business, public administration, and experts in the field of economic resilience.
Włodzimierz Czarzasty assessed that Poland is among the fastest-developing countries, with its economy growing at a rate up to three times higher than the euro area economy. The Speaker pointed out that while the path of development is sometimes bumpy, the state is heading in the right direction, which should be communicated to the younger generation.
A key element of the speech was the role of the Baltic region and Western Pomerania. According to the Speaker, this is an area of strategic importance, linking issues of security, energy sovereignty, and economic development. Polish ports, including the port of Szczecin, account for over 40% of the value of Polish foreign trade and constitute an important link in European and global supply chains. Czarzasty noted that the Baltic Sea is becoming a key trade, energy, and logistics route, and the region has the potential to become one of the European centers for the development of the modern economy, including technologies related to the energy transition.
The Speaker also referred to legislative actions supporting entrepreneurs. He emphasized that economic competitiveness requires stable law and the reduction of administrative burdens. In the current term, the Sejm processed over 100 government deregulation bills, which covered, among others, energy, taxation, digitization of public services, the financial market, and administrative procedures. Włodzimierz Czarzasty indicated that the National Recovery Plan is of key importance for accelerating development, driving a record level of investment and strengthening GDP growth. The Congress agenda also included topics on building national defense potential and finding new opportunities for expansion into foreign markets.
