At the beginning of November 2026, just before the anniversary of the unveiling of the monument to Ignacy Daszyński, the Miejski Zarząd Remontów i Konserwacji Dróg (MZRiKD) completed works in the immediate vicinity of the monument on the square at Plac Na Rozdrożu. Pedestrians and cyclists can already use the renewed sidewalk and a section of the cycle route. The completed works mark the first stage of the modernization of this place.

What was changed around the monument

The monument to Ignacy Daszyński stands on a square between Armii Ludowej Avenue and Jan Chrystian Szuch Avenue, near Plac Na Rozdrożu. It was unveiled on 11 November 2018. As part of the completed works, MZRiKD renovated the sidewalks around the square and improved their geometry. The surface of a section of the bicycle route running from the side of the Trasa Łazienkowska retaining wall was also changed; a new surface was laid and the route’s profile was improved. The reconstructed section connects with the cycling infrastructure created at the "Plac na Rozdrożu 03" stop.

What comes next on Armii Ludowej Avenue

According to announcements, the next works will concern the renovation of a section of the sidewalk at the level of the footbridge at Armii Ludowej Avenue 3/5. The geometry of the curve of the bicycle route leading over the viaduct is also planned to be corrected. The changes are part of a wider cycle of works on Armii Ludowej Avenue: in 2025, a new surface was laid on the southern side of the street, on the section between Marszałkowska Street and the exit from Szucha Street.

Context of changes near Plac Na Rozdrożu

The modernization of the area around the Daszyński monument is a further stage of works at Plac Na Rozdrożu. In 2024, new asphalt was laid there, and the cycling routes running there were renewed. Underground passageways in this area were filled in and replaced with zebra crossings. At Plac Na Rozdrożu, lifts also appeared, providing access to bus stops along Trasa Łazienkowska. As part of the implementation of the "Dostępna Trasa Łazienkowska" strategy, the stairs leading there were renewed. One of the latest elements improving accessibility in this area is a ramp at Przyczółek Grochowski, built in May 2026, which connects Ostrobramska Street with Kinowa Street.
