In the second half of 2026, the House of Art (Dom Sztuki) at 14 Wiolinowa Street in Warsaw hosts audiences for a special screening cycle organized within the Film Discussion Club. The program, scheduled for seven meetings from September 24 to December 17, combines 2026 premieres with acclaimed classics of Polish and world cinema. Admission to all screenings is possible by purchasing a season pass, which allows residents of Ursynów to regularly participate in the district's cultural life without the need to buy tickets for individual events.
A Proposal for Movie Lovers
The organizers – the House of Art and the Ursynów District Office – have prepared a selection of films that, according to the promotional descriptions of the event, have a chance of staying in the audience's memory for a long time. The repertoire includes both new productions, such as Olivia Wilde's “Invitation” (USA, 2026) and Matt Johnson's “Tony” (USA, 2026), as well as more famous titles from recent years, e.g., György Pálfi's “The Hen” (“Kura”), which involved crews from Greece, Germany, and Hungary.
An important part of the program also includes works that have gone into cinema history. On October 22, “Supervision” (“Nadzór”) directed by Wiesław Saniewski (1983) will be shown, and on November 5, a screening of Zhang Yimou's “Red Sorghum” (“Zawieście czerwone latarnie”) (1991), a film produced in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, is planned. On December 3, residents will be able to watch Andrzej Wajda's “Samson” (1961), which will bring back the cinema of the early sixties.
Organizational Details and Season Passes
Screenings take place on Wednesdays, always at 7:00 PM. Each screening lasts about two hours (finish scheduled for 9:00 PM). The organizers have introduced a flexible access purchase system – a season pass covering all seven screenings costs 60 PLN. It can be purchased online or directly at the ticket box of the House of Art cinema, located at 14 Wiolinowa Street.
It is worth paying attention to a repertoire update: information about the film “The Hen” (scheduled for October 8) contains a note about a change in the repertoire, which should be taken into account when planning a visit. The full list of screenings in chronological order is as follows:
- September 24 – “Invitation” (dir. Olivia Wilde)
- October 8 – “The Hen” (dir. György Pálfi)
- October 22 – “Supervision” (dir. Wiesław Saniewski)
- November 5 – “Red Sorghum” (dir. Zhang Yimou)
- November 19 – “Tony” (dir. Matt Johnson)
- December 3 – “Samson” (dir. A. Wajda)
- December 17 – “Sepia Landscape” (dir. Kei Ishikawa)
For viewers who appreciate regular contact with cinema, this cycle is a good opportunity to get to know both new and classic productions in the intimate atmosphere of the House of Art on Ursynów.
