After a one-year break forced by renovations, Galeria XX1 at 36 Jana Pawła II Avenue in Warsaw resumes the 'Relationships' exhibition cycle. The fifth edition of the project, titled 'Post-relational Practices?', will take place from October 23 to December 18, 2026. The opening is scheduled for Friday, October 23, from 18:00 to 21:00, and admission to the exhibition is free.
Context and Program
The group exhibition will gather works by five artists: Sophia Bulgakov, Erwin Jeneralczyk, Emilia Kina, Martyna Marciniak, and Tytus Szabelski-Różniak. The project's curation is overseen by a team consisting of Małgorzata Miśkowiec, Milena Stryjewska, and Karol Szafraniec. Media patrons of the event are NN6T and hus magazine.
The concept of the fifth edition emerges amid a growing communication crisis and social tensions. According to press materials, the curators treat digital technology not only as a neutral mediating tool, but as an active participant in relationships, with which one must negotiate their own position in the world. The exhibition aims to unveil the hidden mechanisms of digital entanglement, pointing to increasing isolation, blurred boundaries of divisions, and the influence of algorithms on collective imagination. The artworks aim to reveal the physical-material dimension of the virtual world, reminding us that online interactions have concrete consequences in social and biological reality.
The next key dates in the exhibition calendar are: a curator's tour scheduled for November 26, 2026 (18:00–19:00), and a finissage on December 18, 2026 (18:00–21:00). Additionally, during the exhibition's run, a series of podcasts is planned, in which invited artists discuss their works and the themes addressed.
Accessibility
The organizers place emphasis on a wide range of accessibility facilities. Each installation in the exhibition will feature an audio description, and the most important accompanying events will be translated live into Polish Sign Language (PJM). Curatorial texts will also be available in video recordings in PJM and in so-called plain language. Extended captions will appear for selected works, and sensory materials and tactile graphics (typhlographics) are provided for blind visitors. The gallery also provides access to a 'neurodiverse starter kit' and assistance offers for those needing support (contact the accessibility coordinator: dostepnosc@mik.waw.pl, tel./SMS: 601 669 440). It is worth noting that Galeria XX1 itself does not have an accessible toilet; the nearest one is located in the Mazovian Institute of Culture.
