On October 14, 2026, in the afternoon, the third edition of the conference “Investment Climate in the Mineral Sector” was held in the Sejm. The event, organized by the Geological Institute – National Research Institute, brought together parliamentarians, scientists, and representatives of the business community. The main objective of the meeting was to analyze the conditions conducive to the development of the Polish mining industry and to discuss the social conditions for carrying out mining activities.
The conference was under the patronage of Marshal of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty. In his opening speech, he emphasized the importance of Poland's raw material security in the context of the current, uncertain international situation. According to the Marshal, the state should be prepared for potential disruptions in supply chains and strive for the maximum utilization of raw materials extracted and processed within the country and Europe.
A key element of the program was the presentation of the results of a study by the Center for Public Opinion Research (CBOS) concerning the level of acceptance of mining in Poland. The presentation was delivered by Dr. hab. Karol Zglinicki. Conference participants also discussed specific legal and organizational barriers faced by investors in the mining sector, comparing corporate experiences with the perspective of local governments.
Marshal Czarzasty, referring to his parliamentary mandate in the Dąbrowa Basin constituency, noted that he understands the challenges associated with mine exploitation. He pointed out the need to maintain a balance between economic interest, environmental protection, and the needs of local communities. As he indicated, during times of geopolitical tensions, additional internal conflicts around mining investments are undesirable.
The Director of the Geological Institute, Prof. Krzysztof Szamałek, emphasized in his speech that the debate on the future of the mineral sector should take place in parliament, as the place of societal representation. Under his leadership, the Institute actively supports the development of the national raw material base, participating in research and geological works.
