From 23 to 25 October 2026, Warsaw's Klub Stodoła will once again become a meeting place for world-class jazz. The third edition in this venue, marking the next chapter in one of Poland's oldest music events, will attract both top domestic artists and international guests. The event, co-financed by the City of Warsaw, references a tradition dating back to 1958, when the first edition of the festival was held in the same location under the name Jazz 1958.
Fusion of Jazz and Classics
The festival's Friday opening will be entrusted to Wojciech Jachna Squad, a formation from the Polish underground. After a three-year hiatus, the band returns with the album “Ad Astra”, in which acoustic sounds on the borderline of impressionism are combined, among other things, with a variation on Karol Szymanowski's violin concerto. On the same day, the stage will feature Marcin Masecki Trio, presenting the “Beethoven” project. The musicians are inspired by the composer's last piano sonata from 1822, the final movement of which features rhythms reminiscent of swing or boogie-woogie. The trio develops these classical motifs, fusing them with contemporary jazz sensibility.
The Friday program will also be enhanced by a performance by Adam Bałdych European Quartet. The quartet's lineup, comprising musicians from Poland, Italy, Sweden, and France, will feature material from the album “Endless”, where jazz meets elements of classical music.
Avant-garde and Memory of Tomasz Stańko
Saturday will bring the audience into contact with Polish avant-garde. Cześćtet, a group founded in 2024 by Szymon Pimpon Gąsiorek, will perform pieces from their 2025 debut album “Polofuturyzm”. This record, combining jazz, electronics, and post-rock, was named one of the year's best releases by “Gazeta Wyborcza”. The band is known for its experimental approach, which also draws on performative arts and poetry.
A major highlight of Saturday evening will be a concert dedicated to the memory of Tomasz Stańko. Tomasz Dąbrowski Septet will present the project “Istnienia Poszczególne” (Certain States of Being), featuring guest appearances by, among others, Fredrik Lundin and Marc Ducret. The compositions focus on individuality and creativity in improvised music. Meanwhile, Maciej Obara Nonet will perform the program “Bluish Landscapes”, a reference to the cult 1992 album “Bluish”. The ensemble's lineup includes musicians from Poland and Norway, and the concert combines improvisation with electronics, creating a tribute to Stańko's Scandinavian sound.
Grand Finale and Award-Winning Projects
The Sunday performances will begin with the international project AGMA under the direction of Szymon Mika. The material performed by the band comes from the album “Agma”, which was honored with the Fryderyk 2026 award in the Jazz Album of the Year category. The quartet's lineup includes artists from South Korea, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland.
On the same day, we will hear Mateusz Smoczyński & Marcus Stockhausen Quintet and their multi-movement suite “Over The Clouds”. The repertoire will also include space for the musicians' own compositions, by artists from Germany, Canada, Estonia, and Poland, balancing on the edge of jazz and classics.
The festival will culminate in a concert by Marcin Wasilewski Trio. This is a formation that has functioned in an unchanged lineup for over 32 years and regularly releases records for the prestigious ECM Records label. In this edition, the trio will perform with the participation of American trumpeter Philip Dizack and saxophonist Adam Pierończyk. The band, which has accompanied Tomasz Stańko in numerous projects over the decades, is considered one of the most important Polish jazz ensembles.
