Subcommissioner Krzysztof Banaś, an officer who serves as the duty officer at the Katowice Police III Commissariat, achieved a significant success at international barbell strength competitions. By bench pressing 250 kg, the officer set a new personal record and claimed two world championship titles.

The competition took place in Pabianice as part of the GPC federation championships. It was there that the athlete from Katowice faced the challenge of lifting a quarter of a ton, which allowed him to take first place in the Masters 1 up to 140 kg category. This result also translated into victory in the MPF federation championships and a world silver medal in the Absolute category, which includes athletes from all weight classes.

Jubilee context and the popular vote

Subcommissioner Banaś's success coincides with the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of sport in the Police. On this occasion, the officer was nominated for the popular vote for the most popular athlete in police service. Voting in this category, organized via the official Facebook profile, will run until October 28, 2026, at 12:00. Earlier this year, the officer also set a Polish record at a competition in Wrocław, which constitutes an important element of his achievements in the current season.
