Next Saturday, October 24, 2026, the capital will host the last open bicycle license exams of the year. The event is aimed at primary school students who are at least 10 years old and wish to test their knowledge and cycling skills. The exams will be held at the Traffic Road Town (Miasteczko Ruchu Drogowego) of the Warsaw Capital City Municipal Guard, located at 8/10 Sołtyka Street in Wola.

Participation requirements and registration

Participation in the exam requires prior registration. Phone bookings are accepted from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Candidates can contact the following numbers: 22 598 60 31, 22 598 60 32, 723 986 198, and 723 986 086. It is worth noting that the specific start time of the exam is determined during the registration process.

Before taking the tests, a parent or guardian should consult with the director of the child’s school regarding participation. The director grants permission for the student’s participation in written or oral form. On the day of the exam, the child must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Participants must have their student ID or another document confirming identity with a photo and date of birth, as well as the legal guardian’s consent expressed on the appropriate grading sheet.

Practical section and bicycle rental

Candidates may arrive with their own bicycle, but those who wish to do so can borrow a bicycle free of charge from the municipal guards present on site. A special option is to take only the practical section of the exam. This applies to individuals who have already passed the theoretical exam. To use this option, one must present to the examiner the MEN 28 form confirming the passing of the theory, stamped by the school and signed by the director. After passing both sections of the exam (or only the practical section, if the theory was already passed), this document must be handed over to the school director, who then issues the bicycle license based on it.

Importance of the bicycle license

Possessing a bicycle license is a legal requirement for individuals who have turned 10 and wish to legally ride bicycles on public roads, including roads and lanes designated for cyclists. This document also authorizes minors to use electric scooters on public roads, provided they have reached the age of 13. According to the Office of the Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw, 350 children have already obtained a bicycle license during this year's open exams organized throughout the year. The initiative is jointly run by the Warsaw Capital City Municipal Guard and the Traffic Department of the Capital City Police Command. It should be remembered that on exam days, the Traffic Road Town will be available exclusively to examinees.
