On October 28, 2026, in Warsaw, at the Mazowieckie Voivodeship Office, the "Świadomy Senior – Bezpieczny Senior" (Aware Senior – Safe Senior) programme was officially inaugurated. The main objective of the project is to raise the legal awareness of elderly people and strengthen their safety in daily life. The initiative includes, among other things, education on protection against various types of fraud, internet safety, and consumer rights.
A wide representation of government administration and uniformed services attended the ceremony. Present were, inter alia, Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek and State Secretary Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz. The event also gathered Mazovian Voivode Mariusz Frankowski and Deputy Voivode Patryk Fajdek. On behalf of the Provincial Police Headquarters located in Radom, Chief Inspector Waldemar Wołowiec participated in the inauguration together with a group of Mazovian officers.
A key element of the meeting was expert presentations. In one of the thematic blocks, a female officer from the Prevention Department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Radom discussed mechanisms of property crimes that most often affect seniors. Particular emphasis was placed on fraud committed using the "confabulation" method and other tactics employed by perpetrators who exploit the trust and emotions of victims. Practical guidelines on conduct were also presented, which may help limit the risk of losing savings.
Police participation in the programme is treated as a significant element of preventive activities. Direct contact with elderly people allows not only for the dissemination of knowledge about current threats but also for shaping attitudes aimed at increasing their safety. A brochure titled "Warto wiedzieć 2026" is available to participants and interested parties, serving as informative material that complements the programme content.
