Construction of the final section of the second metro line in Warsaw, carried out on Bemowo, is coming to an end. With its completion, vehicle traffic is gradually being restored on streets that were closed during the works. Drivers can already use Coopera street, and in the coming days, additional routes will be unblocked, including Sochaczewska, Rayskiego, and Mory streets. This process also involves the restoration of standard public transport routes and the creation of new passenger service points at the stations.
Coopera street was reopened to traffic on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. Traffic organization prior to the start of the metro construction has been restored there. Drivers can travel the section from Górczewska street to Batalionów Chłopskich street, and the parking lot located there has been reactivated.
Further Openings and Kiss & Ride Zones
Further changes to road traffic are scheduled for the turn of October and November. On Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 12:00, the crossing on Sochaczewska street to Połczyńska street will be opened. The intersection of these streets has been fully reconstructed. At the entrances to the new Karolin metro station, bus bays and Kiss & Ride zones have been created, allowing for short stops to drop off passengers. On Połczyńska street, traffic organization has been restored with three lanes on both carriageways.
The following day, on Thursday, November 5, at the same time, Kiss & Ride zones on both sides of Górczewska street, near the bus loop and the new Lazurowa station, will be opened. On this day, changes were also introduced on Lazurowa street. In the carriageway heading towards Aleja Obrońców Grodna, behind the intersection with Doroszewskiego street, new bus stops have been designated. Additionally, between the carriageways, before the Free Europe Radio Roundabout, a parking lot with 85 parking spaces is being built.
On Friday, November 6, at 12:00, Rayskiego street will be opened on the section from Batalionów Chłopskich street to Szeligowska street. At the entrances to the Chrzanów station, located on both sides of this street, parking bays and new Kiss & Ride spaces have been prepared. On the same day at noon, the crossing of the renovated Mory street as well as a new internal road leading to the Mory Technical and Stopping Station will also be put into use.
Changes in Public Transport
The restoration of traffic on the aforementioned streets will affect bus routes. From Monday, November 9, 2026, buses on line 349 will return to their standard route. They will operate on the newly opened streets, traveling from the Metro Bemowo 03 stop through Powstańców Śląskich, Człuchowska, Szeligowska, Rayskiego, Coopera, and Górczewska streets, to end the route at the Metro Bemowo 01 stop. Public transport will also stop at the Chrzanów 04 (Rayskiego street, behind the intersection with Szeligowska), Coopera–Przychodnia 02, and Orlińskiego 02 (Coopera street) stops.
New Metro Stations on Bemowo
Within the framework of the finishing construction phase, three new stations will be put into use: Lazurowa (at the intersection of Górczewska and Lazurowa), Chrzanów (at the intersection of Rayskiego and Szeligowska), and Karolin (in the vicinity of the intersection of Połczyńska and Sochaczewska), along with sidings. Behind the Karolin station, underground approach tracks to the Mory Technical and Stopping Station are being built, which will enable comprehensive servicing of the rolling stock of the second line. As part of the works, two ventilation plants were also built.
The implementation of this section is part of the "Construction of the II metro line with accompanying infrastructure – phase IV" project. The value of the entire undertaking, including construction and the purchase of rolling stock, is 3,000,830,693.00 PLN. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the Cohesion Fund, within the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment for 2021-2027 program, in the amount of 1,125,000,000.00 PLN.
