On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, a delegation of approximately 50 parliamentarians from NATO member states, along with representatives of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, arrived at the Polish-Belarusian border. The visit was of an official verification nature, aimed at reviewing the activities conducted in the region, and was organized within the framework of the work of the Ukraine-NATO Interparliamentary Council (UNIC).
The trip, held at the invitation of MP Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska, who chairs the delegation of the Polish parliament to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, constituted the second day of the visitation. The main objectives of the expedition included presenting challenges related to the defense of the Alliance's eastern flank and discussing the practical aspects of securing this border section, which serves as NATO's eastern border.
The central point of the program was the presentation to the guests of the implementation of the Polish 'Tarcza Wschód' (Shield East) program. Participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the technical and procedural solutions applied in the context of territorial defense. The Ukraine-NATO Interparliamentary Council functions as a forum for dialogue between parliamentarians of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada, focusing on strengthening political relations and supporting Ukraine's integration process with the North Atlantic Alliance.
