A new outdoor sauna has opened in Żerański Park, resulting from a project submitted under the 2026 Citizens' Budget. Located in the southern part of the park, right next to the main alley along the waterfront, the facility offers Warsaw residents and guests the chance to relax amidst urban greenery. Using the amenity is free but requires advance booking and the payment of a refundable deposit. Sessions take place daily between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM, divided into 90-minute blocks, and will be available until December 20.
The sauna is co-ed and clothing-optional (topless/nude). Participants are required to bring at least two towels, although it is possible to rent them on-site. Outdoor saunas in the Vistula District have a long tradition and have become a permanent feature of the autumn and winter landscape in this part of the city. According to the source, warmth, greenery, and relaxation have become the hallmark of the area around the Żerański Canal, where nature dominates the urban rhythm. Jan Piotrowski, the Mayor’s Plenipotentiary for the Vistula, emphasizes that the goal of such initiatives is to encourage people to get close to nature and benefit from the natural assets of the Vistula River in Warsaw.
Public transport and bicycles provide access to the sauna. The easiest way to get there is via the "Kanał Żerański 01" or "02" bus stops or the "Warszawa Toruńska" train station. Mobile saunas are gaining in popularity, and the first container-type, publicly accessible sauna in this location appeared over ten years ago. Over time, it has become a recurring element of events such as the Vistula District Seaweed School and the new year's transition. Currently, the Vistula Sauna at Czerniakowski Port is the most popular, having operated year-round for seven years.
In the vicinity of Żerański Park, other water attractions are also available. On Saturdays, guests can enjoy scenic boat tours on the "Żer" vessel around the Żerański Port. The return of a floating sauna on the schooner Dar Mazowsza is also planned along the Vistula. In mid-November, the 10th Anniversary edition of the Vistula District Seaweed School will begin on Saskia Beach. Plans also include creating another sauna spot on the right bank, intended to attract residents from areas such as Praga-Południe. This year, the Warsaw City Greenery Management also implemented other projects, such as a free kayak rental, rafting trips to Nieporęt, and a new water playground, adding further offerings for families visiting the Vistula Districts.
