Two suspects were detained in Warsaw on charges of organized fraud. According to data published on 6 November 2026, officers from the Economic Crime Combat Department in Legionowo apprehended a 37-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man. Both residents of the Masovian Voivodeship were acting in concert to defraud victims by extracting advance payments for services.

Method of Operation

The criminals used popular advertising platforms to promote their fake services. A key element of their scheme was demanding payment via the BLIK system. The scammers misled customers by suggesting that a transfer of a code to a specified phone number was necessary to purchase materials needed to complete the order. In reality, they had no intention of fulfilling any obligations towards the victims. What particularly distinguished the perpetrators was the scale of their technological activities—police determined that the woman had registered nearly one hundred and fifty different phone numbers under her personal data, intended to conceal their identity and make it harder for victims to identify them.

The Arrest

Police located the pair in the capital. When officers moved to intervene, the suspects attempted to flee, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. Despite the damage to their car, the perpetrators were unable to successfully escape and were immediately apprehended by the police. During a search of the vehicle used by the scammers, various equipment was seized. As investigators indicate, these items were purchased with money obtained directly from the committed frauds.

Legal Consequences

The detainees were charged with causing financial detriment through deception and the fraudulent extraction of BLIK codes. The man's legal situation was significantly more serious. In addition to the main fraud charges, the 51-year-old was also held accountable for failing to stop for a traffic control, active and passive resistance to police officers, and disobeying their commands. Furthermore, officers determined that the man was acting under conditions of recidivism.

Further findings revealed additional circumstances related to the past of both suspects. The 51-year-old was wanted by an arrest warrant, which resulted in his immediate transfer to a penitentiary unit. The woman, on the other hand, had two court orders requiring the determination of her current whereabouts. The police are continuing their investigation to determine the actual scale of their criminal activity and the full extent of the damage inflicted on the victims.
