On Friday, October 23, 2026, the Mundurowy Festiwal Mocy (Uniformed Power Festival) took place in Krakow, with Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitions as its climax. The event gathered 280 athletes representing numerous uniformed services. Participating in the competition was Junior Aspirant Paweł Marcinowski, a local police officer from the Grębocice Police Post, who, as a representative of the Polkowice County Police Headquarters, won a bronze medal.
Sports success against the backdrop of a jubilee
The competitions in Krakow were not only an opportunity to test physical fitness but also part of the official celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of sports in the Police. Organizers emphasized the importance of physical activity and the cultivation of sports traditions among officers. The integration meeting allowed for the exchange of experiences between representatives of different services, who, while competing against each other, were united by a common uniform and a passion for sports.
Participants included, among others, police officers from all garrisons, soldiers (including from the Land Forces Academy, the Territorial Defence Forces, and units in Bydgoszcz), employees of the CBA, Border Guard, State Fire Service, Penitentiary Service, and State Security Service. Such diversity among the festival participants underscored the nationwide character of the event.
Competition in the under 89 kg category
Jr. Asp. Paweł Marcinowski competed in the under 89 kilograms weight category, in the group for purple, brown, and black belts. According to the source, in this specific group, only police officers competed, giving the fights a particular dimension of internal service rivalry. After intense bouts, the athlete from Grębocice stood on the third step of the podium, winning a bronze medal.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a discipline that demands much more from an athlete than mere physical strength. Mastery, concentration, technique, and the ability to make quick decisions in a dynamic situation are of key importance. This victory is regarded by the Polkowice County Police Headquarters as proof that daily service does not preclude personal development and sporting passion.
Representation of the Polkowice Police
The Polkowice headquarters was represented in Krakow by a two-person team. In addition to the medalist, Jr. Asp. Paweł Marcinowski, the competition was also entered by Jr. Asp. Dawid Fidut from the Department for the Fight against Economic Crime. The presence of officers from different departments and posts shows the broad spectrum of sports engagement among police officers in this region. Achieving a bronze medal is a source of pride for the headquarters and an example for other services of how harmoniously professional duties can be combined with the ambitious development of physical abilities.
