A modernized section of Provincial Road No. 634 has been opened for traffic in Wołomin County. The works covered a route with a total length of approximately 9.92 km, connecting the municipalities of Zielonka, Kobyłka, and Wołomin. According to press information, the total cost of this investment exceeded 275 million Polish zloty. Funds for this purpose came from the budget of the Masovian Voivodeship, the European Funds for Masovia 2021–2027 program, and the Government's Polish Deal: Strategic Investment Program.

Scope and parameters of the investment

The reconstruction was divided into two separate sections, implemented by different contractors. The first fragment, approximately 4.78 km long, leads from the overpass at Legionów Street in Zielonka to Orląt Lwowskich Street in Kobyłka. It was built by the company Strabag, and the value of the contract was close to 118 million PLN. Of this amount, 54 million PLN was support from European structural funds (EF for Masovia 2021–2027).

The second section, approximately 5.14 km long, connects Orląt Lwowskich Street in Kobyłka with the intersection with Niepodległości Avenue in Wołomin. Works in this area were carried out by the company Roverpol for 156 million PLN. Of this amount, 65 million PLN was financed from Polish Deal funds.

The main element of the roadway modernization was the widening of the route by a third, middle maneuver lane. This solution is intended to facilitate turning maneuvers into properties and reduce disruptions for vehicles traveling straight. New infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists was built along the road, including cycle paths and pedestrian-cycle paths, which create connections between the mentioned municipalities. The investment also included the reconstruction of intersections, driveways, and bus bays. New sidewalks, traffic lights, and road lighting were installed. Additionally, underground infrastructure was developed, including the installation of a new stormwater drainage system.

The reconstruction of the bridge in Zielonka played a special role in the modernization. A new bridge was built in the place of the old engineering structure, which affected traffic flow and the technical standards of the route. As Anna Brzezińska, a member of the voivodeship board, points out, this road is important for the daily commute of residents of the county. In her assessment, thanks to the investment, the route has become safer and more comfortable not only for drivers but also for pedestrians and cyclists.

Marshal Adam Struzik, in the context of the road opening, emphasized that the implementation of the DW634 project is part of a broader road investment program being carried out in Wołomin County. As reported in the communiqué, in recent years, 60 million PLN from the voivodeship budget has been allocated for repairs and other road investments in this region.
