The legal situation of a 26-year-old resident of Pułtusk, who committed a brutal attack on a pedestrian in the city center on October 16, 2026, has been resolved by a court decision. Upon the prosecutor's request, the Pułtusk District Court decided to apply the strictest preventive measure against the perpetrator. The man will spend the next three months in custody.
The charge presented to the suspect concerns the attempted infliction of serious injury to health. Under applicable regulations, such an act carries a penalty of up to 20 years of imprisonment. Investigators indicate that the course of events on October 16 bore the hallmarks of exceptional aggression, and the attacker's actions directly threatened the victim's life.
According to police findings, the assault took place in the Pułtusk center area. The 26-year-old attacked a resident of Pułtusk County, who was 16 years older than him and was walking on the sidewalk at the time. The perpetrator initially beat the victim all over the body, and the climax of the aggression was a powerful blow to the head with a wooden stick held in his hand.
The consequences of such behavior proved to be dramatic. The 42-year-old, stunned and seriously injured, fell to the ground. Bystanders, who were witnesses to the entire incident, managed to restrain the aggressor and provide aid to the victim. The injured man was transported to the hospital in a condition that endangered his life. Pułtusk police officers intervened at the crime scene, securing traces and interviewing witnesses. Surveillance footage, which officers analyzed in detail, was of crucial importance for establishing the identity of the perpetrator and the weapon used.
After collecting evidence and detaining the 26-year-old, the case was transferred to the prosecutor's office, which filed a request for the suspect's preventive detention. The court granted this request, recognizing the need to isolate the perpetrator during the proceedings.
