From 7:00 AM on October 30, 2026, revised temporary traffic organization rules will come into force in the Rembertów part of Warsaw. The modifications concern the area around the construction of the tunnel under the railway tracks at Marsa Street and in Chruściel „Monter” Avenue. The changes were introduced at the request of residents and the Rembertów District, responding to the need for better road functionality during the construction works ongoing since spring this year.

Changes on Republikańska Street and nearby streets

The most important change will be two-way traffic on Republikańska Street on the section from the intersection with Topograficzna and Fizyków streets to Fiszera Street. At all intersections on this fragment, vehicles traveling on Republikańska Street will have the right of way. The direction of traffic will also change on two nearby streets. Konwisarska Street on the section from Gawędziarzy to Republikańska, and Eskulapów Street on the section from Chruściel „Monter” to Gawędziarzy, will become one-way streets.

To protect infrastructure and facilitate the passage of heavy vehicles, tonnage restrictions have been introduced. Republikańska Street has been designated as a detour route exclusively for vehicles with a total mass below 3.5 tons. Additionally, a ban on entering Gawędziarzy and Fizyków streets from Republikańska for heavy trucks is in effect. This ban does not apply to municipal services and vehicles arriving at specific properties.

Relocation of the bus stop

Along with the new traffic organization, the location of the public transport stop Grawerska 51, serving bus lines 115, 183, 514, and night line N21, will change. The stop will be moved to Ilskiego Street, on the section before the intersection with Marsa Street. The new location is closer to the PKP station, which is intended to facilitate passenger communication during the construction works. The relocation will take place from October 30, 2026, from the start of operations.

Investment details

The realized investment aims to replace the existing level crossing, which for years has caused congestion and hindered smooth traffic in this part of the city. The road tunnel will begin after the new roundabout at the intersection of Marsa and Ilskiego streets, and drivers will exit it on the other side of the tracks into Chruściel „Monter” Avenue, at the level of Strażacka Street.

As part of the works, Pociskowa Street has also been rebuilt, which, after connecting with Ilskiego Street, will provide convenient access to surrounding buildings and a shopping center. Bellona Street will be extended to the demolished level crossing; it will gain a bicycle lane and become one-way. Additionally, a roundabout will be built at the intersection of Marsa and Cyrulików streets.

The completion of the construction is planned for December 2027. The total cost of the investment exceeds 134 million zloty. The works are being carried out by a consortium of INTOP S.A. and INTOP Warszawa, and the investment is co-financed by the city of Warsaw and PKP PLK SA.
