The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) in Warsaw is launching the next stage of the S8 route modernization, focusing on the section connecting Prymasa Tysiąclecia junction with Broniewskiego Street. Over the next two weeks, drivers should anticipate disruptions related to the surface replacement on the carriageway heading towards Poznań. Once the work on this carriageway is completed, the construction crews will transport equipment and begin similar works on the carriageway leading towards Białystok.

Traffic Organization Changes

Alongside the repair works, changes to traffic organization are continuing this week on the section between Modlińska and Powązkowska junctions. As announced, the emergency lane and the bus lane have been removed from the carriageway heading towards Poznań. This will allow for the allocation of a fourth, additional traffic lane on the main line, which is expected to improve the route's capacity in areas where local roads do not run in parallel. This change is consistent with previous actions on the carriageway towards Białystok, where the bus lane was also removed.

Night Work Schedule

To minimize the impact of the repairs on traffic flow during peak hours, key stages of the works, such as milling the old surface, laying new asphalt, and installing markings, are carried out exclusively at night. These works are being conducted between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM. This arrangement is standard for this type of investment in the center of the Warsaw metropolitan area.

Additional technical interventions are scheduled for the upcoming weekend. From Saturday at 8:00 PM to Monday at 5:00 AM, repair and adjustment work will be performed on sewage manhole covers on the carriageway heading towards Białystok. During this period, the entrance to S8 from Aleje Prymasa Tysiąclecia and the exit at the level of Broniewskiego Street will be completely closed. Traffic will be diverted onto the road parallel to the main route, and rejoining the highway will only be possible after the intersection with Broniewskiego Street.

It should be noted that the timely completion of the works largely depends on weather conditions. Further stages of the works, which will cover the remaining part of the route between Powązkowska and Łabiszyńska junctions, will be announced in separate communications.
