The Trade Inspection completed a quality control of hi-vis clothing intended, among others, for cyclists. The publication of the results, including the full report and a list of inspected items, took place on November 6, 2026. The research covered 10 specific product models, including both vests and jackets. The aim of the inspection was to verify the compliance of these products with technical safety requirements, as well as the correctness of their labeling and accompanying documentation.
The analysis revealed that not all products met the expected standards. Irregularities were found in three of the inspected items: two models of vests and one jacket. The deficiencies concerned technical parameters directly affecting user visibility, the correctness of labeling, or the completeness of documentation. In the context of road safety, especially for cyclists, it is crucial to check whether the product bears the required CE mark and whether the attached instruction manual is consistent with the product's properties. A bright color and reflective elements alone do not guarantee safe use if the product has not passed the necessary quality controls.
The Office for Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) made a number of supporting materials available for media and consumers. These include an audio recording with a statement by Jagoda Kruszewska from the UOKiK Communications Department, recorded on November 5, 2026. This material allows users to learn the official stance of the official regarding the inspection results. Additionally, two graphical files in PDF format were published: an extensive Trade Inspection report (size 3 MB) and a detailed list of inspected products (size 0.57 MB). Both publications are available in a format that allows direct download and data analysis.
