On Friday, October 23, 2026, in the early hours of the morning, a dangerous fire occurred in Bestwina. Flames engulfed a garage attached to a single-family home on Bialska Street. Inside were two people who had been using the premises as a sleeping place. The situation was critical due to heavy smoke and direct fire threat.

Police Intervention

The first to arrive at the scene were officers from the Czechowice-Dziedzice Police Station: Senior Postman Rafał Michalik and Senior Postman Rafał Dobrowolski. Without delay, they began the rescue operation. First, the officers led a woman out of the burning structure. According to reports, her leg got stuck while attempting to leave the room on her own, requiring immediate assistance from the police.

However, the officers could not determine that the danger had passed. Suspecting that another person might still be inside, they returned to the smoky garage. Inside, they found a man lying on the floor. Due to extensive leg burns, the victim was unable to move on his own. The officers carried him outside at the last moment before the fire engulfed the entire room. Immediately after the evacuation, the man received prompt medical assistance from the intervening officers.
