Detention of a Ukrainian citizen in Warsaw: suspicion of preparing sabotage in Romania

In the capital city, 33-year-old Ukrainian citizen Artem S. was detained. He was being sought in connection with suspicion of preparing acts of sabotage on the territory of Romania. The man was apprehended by officers of the Department for Countering Terrorist Acts operating within the Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police. The basis for conducting this operation was a European Arrest Warrant, which was issued by Romanian legal authorities.

According to findings shared in the police statement, the suspect allegedly participated in planning and preparations for a series of sabotage operations that occurred in September 2026. A key element of the investigation is the incident of 14 September 2026, when an operational facility building was damaged as a result of arson. This facility was engaged in the development of weapons and ammunition that have strategic significance for international security.

As noted by the authorities, acts of sabotage targeting infrastructure related to armaments technology pose a serious threat to the state and citizens. Arson of such facilities can result not only in enormous material losses but also a threat to human life and the disruption of key research processes. Consequently, it is essential to identify the entire chain of individuals involved in this type of activity, starting from target designation, through financial matters, to the perpetrators.

The detention of Artem S. was the result of international cooperation among services. Currently, the man is in custody, and his further procedural fate will remain under the jurisdiction of a Polish court, which will make a decision regarding the potential execution of the European Arrest Warrant.
