On November 11, 2026, Warsaw will hold Independence Day celebrations under the slogan “Shared Independence.” The main musical events will take place in front of the Museum of Polish History and in the vicinity of the Citadel and Krakowskie Przedmieście. The city has also prepared a symbolic initiative involving residents and special public transport to facilitate access to various program points.
“Shared Independence” Concert
The central point of the celebrations will be a concert scheduled for 17:15. The event will be a musical journey through Poland, featuring 16 artists representing all the voivodeships (provinces) of the country. Among the performers are stars such as Maryla Rodowicz, Justyna Steczkowska, Andrzej Piaseczny, Tatiana Okupnik, Tomasz Organek, Margaret, Kasia Sienkiewicz, Kasia Lins, Kasia Stankiewicz, Natalia Muianga, Marika, Igo, Jarecki, Grubson, Igor Herbut, and Livka.
The concert program involves each performer connecting with their regional identity, presenting songs based on folk songs, ballads, or chants. Some performances may incorporate dialectal linguistic elements. The whole will be realized in modern arrangements by Jan Smoczyński, featuring the Kapela Maliszów and the band Dagadana. Entry to the concert is free, and the broadcast will take place on TVP1.
The event will be hosted by Piotr Jędrzejek. Guest appearances will also be made by participants of the program “Europe is Lovable – New Generation,” including Conrado Moreno, Eleni Pliatsika, Steve Terret, and Timea Balajcza.
Attractions at the Citadel and Krakowskie Przedmieście
In addition to the main concert, the Museum of Polish History, in cooperation with partners, has prepared a day full of attractions at the Warsaw Citadel and Krakowskie Przedmieście. The program includes singing the national anthem together, dancing the polonaise, and participating in educational workshops. Artistic performances are also planned to highlight the role of culture in building a shared holiday.
The detailed schedule of events is available on the official website of the Museum of Polish History.
National Cockades and Transport
To mark the 108th anniversary of the recovery of independence, the city will make 10,000 white-and-red national cockades available. They will be placed on five designated advertising poles in the inner center of Warsaw. Each pole will contain 2,000 pieces. The cockades will be available to residents and tourists from 10:00. The locations include:
- Plac Unii Lubelskiej (from the southern side),
- the intersection of Marszałkowska and Wspólna streets,
- Plac Wilsona (near the metro entrance),
- Rondo Waszyngtona (from the National Stadium side),
- Aleja Solidarności (corner with Żelazna street, towards the Center).
To facilitate access to the Citadel, organizers will launch a special, free bus line designated WN (Wspólna Niepodległa). This line will operate between 15:00 and 21:00, connecting the Citadel with Plac Teatralny. The route will pass through, among others, Wybrzeże Gdyńskie, Sanguszki, Konwiktorska, and Senatorska.
For those using regular public transport, bus lines 185 are recommended, as they go directly to the Citadel. Alternatively, one can take the M1 metro line to Plac Wilsona, or buses and trams to the area around Rondo Dmowskiego, from which a pedestrian path leads to the Citadel.
