On 5 November 2026, the Office of the President of the City of Warsaw published a summary of the latest edition of the “Warszawskie targowiska nie marnują” project. The initiative aimed to promote not wasting food and proper waste sorting. It also produced a free e-book containing zero waste recipes and practical advice related to waste.
In this edition, the project was carried out at four Warsaw markets: Bazar Szembeka in Praga-Południe, Bazarek near Hala Marymoncka on Żoliborz, Falenica Market in Wawer, and Bazarek at ul. Gierdziejewskiego in Ursus. Around 6,000 people took part in 11 Saturday events. Zero waste cooking demonstrations were led by Sylwia Majcher.
According to estimates by the Polish Federation of Food Banks, nearly 5 million tons of food are wasted in Poland every year. In connection with the project, the city released the publication “Warszawskie targowiska nie marnują – przepisy i porady”. It includes zero waste recipes and tips on proper waste sorting.
