On the occasion of Independence Day, November 11, 2026, solemn celebrations under the motto "Wspólna Niepodległa" (Shared Independence) will take place in the center of Warsaw. The main highlight of the program will be an evening concert at the Citadel, accompanied by a parade of historical military vehicles and a special transportation offer for residents and tourists. Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski invites everyone to celebrate together, encouraging active participation in the prepared events.
Concert at the Citadel
The musical event will begin at 5:15 PM on the square in front of the Polish History Museum. Sixteen artists will perform on stage, each representing a different voivodeship. Among the invited performers are Maryla Rodowicz, Justyna Steczkowska, Andrzej Piaseczny, Tomasz Organek, Margaret, Igor Herbut, Kasia Sienkiewicz, Kasia Lins, Natalia Muianga, Marika, Igo, Jarecki, Grubson, Tatiana Okupnik, Livka, and Kasia Stankiewicz. The artists will present folk songs, ballads, and catchphrases, often in regional dialects or in Lemko, Kashubian, and Silesian languages. The songs will be presented in modern arrangements by Jan Smoczyński, with the support of the Maliszów Kapela and the Dagadana ensemble.
The event will be hosted by Piotr Jędrzejek. Participants from the program "Europe da się lubić – nowe pokolenie" (Europe is likeable – new generation), including Conrado Moreno, Eleni Pliatsika, Steve Terret, and Timea Balajcza, will also perform as guests. Admission to the concert is free, and the entire event will be broadcast on TVP1 channel.
Parade and Military Attractions
At 12:00 PM, a parade of historical military vehicles will start at the Citadel. Historical equipment, including the Warsaw Uprising insurgents' armored vehicle "Kubuś," Willys Jeeps, the Universal Carrier tracked armored transport, and military motorcycles, will be displayed to residents. The Polish Army Museum will also prepare a zone for showcasing modern military equipment, where visitors will be able to talk with soldiers. A special zone with seating and an induction loop has been designated for people with disabilities.
Food will also be available on the Citadel grounds, including grochówka (a traditional Polish pea soup) and "kranówka" (hot tea on this day) prepared by MPWiK. Additional attractions are planned on Krakowskie Przedmieście, such as singing the national anthem together, dancing the polonaise, workshops, and artistic performances.
National Rosettes and Transport
The city has also prepared patriotic symbolism. Starting from 10:00 AM, white and red national rosettes can be collected for free at five locations in Warsaw. A total of 10,000 units have been made available (2,000 at each post). Rosettes will be available at Pl. Unii Lubelskiej (from the south side), at the intersection of ul. Marszałkowska and Wspólna, at Pl. Wilsona (next to the metro entrance), at the Waszyngtona roundabout (from the side of the National Stadium), and at Al. Solidarności corner with ul. Żelazna (towards the Center).
Travel to the Citadel will be facilitated by a free bus line numbered WN. It will operate between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM on the route between the Citadel and Pl. Teatralny, passing through Wybrzeże Gdyńskie, Sanguszków, Konwiktorska, Bonifraterska, Miodowa, and Senatorska. Organizers recommend checking current announcements regarding traffic organization on the day of the event.
