GDDKiA has selected the contractor for the design and construction of the Zwoleń bypass as part of National Route 79 (DK79). The most advantageous offer in the tender was submitted by a consortium of Aldesa Construcciones Polska and Aldesa Construcciones. The value of the signed contract exceeds 190 million złoty, and the investment forms part of the government's Program for the Construction of 100 Bypasses.
Timeline and Scope of Works
The signing of the contract with the contractor is planned for the first quarter of 2027. From that moment, the consortium will have a total of 42 months to complete the entire task. The design and construction phase will take 39 months, while an additional 3 months are allocated for the renovation of the existing DK79 alignment in the area of its passage through Zwoleń. Assuming a smooth progress of works, drivers should be able to use the new route in 2031. Winter periods, falling between December 16 and March 15, are not included in the work schedule.
The contractor's scope of obligations includes the preparation of design documentation (both construction and execution), obtaining the necessary administrative decisions, including a road traffic permit (ZRID), as well as the construction of the road itself and the modernization of the old section.
Technical Parameters of the Route
The new 10-kilometer bypass will be built in the Zwoleń municipality, on the eastern side of the city. The road will be constructed as a GP class route (Main Accelerated Traffic Route), featuring a single roadway with one lane in each direction. Access to the bypass is planned via a junction with the designed S12 expressway and four intersections. Two of these will connect the new route with the existing DK79 alignment, one with National Route 12, and the last with a county road connecting Zwoleń and Janowice.
Investment Context in the Region
The construction of the bypass aims to divert transit traffic from the center of Zwoleń, which will translate into improved safety for residents and a reduction in the load on the local road network. The route will serve as a traffic-distributing element for the planned S12 expressway between Radom and Puławy.
Zwoleń is the next center in Masovia where road investments are being realized under the government program. At the end of August 2025, the Lipsk bypass along DK79 was opened to traffic, and in June 2026, drivers gained access to the Pułtusk bypass (DK61/57). Works on the Skaryszew bypass are also advanced – an application for a road traffic permit (ZRID) was submitted in July 2026, and the start of works is planned for the end of the first quarter of 2027. In the same month, a tender was announced for the Gostynin–Płock route, including the Łącko bypass. The remaining Masovian bypasses, including those in Ciechanów, Siedlce, and Sokołów Podlaski, are currently at the study stage.
